Backwater Cruise Do’s & Don’ts
During the months of March, April & May book your boat as Air condition.
Air condition in rooms will be produced only during night (8 pm -7 am)
Three Crew members will be sailing with you. Cook, Captain and a Guide. If you require any information get them from the Guide.
Try to wear cotton light dress on cruise; it can avoid humidity during summer time. (March, April, May)
Since Kerala’s climate is largely tropical, carry loose fitting cottons clothes, sunglasses and sun block lotions
Evening Oil body massage will rejuvenate your body; you will get this facility from the backwater village
Main hotels, restaurants, main houseboat operators and shopping centers honor major Credit Cards
Carry some pens / Chocolates with you for supplying to the backwater village children’s, if you can, don't give any money
Distilled water provided abroad the boat is purified and quite safe to drink.
Houseboat foods are preparing in the Kerala style, so you should be order to the chef about your requirements. (Spices or Less Spice)
There is no limit to the amount of foreign currency that visitors can carry.
Kerala style dress stitching can be made on some homes near backwater, evening you can order stitching
Temples : Some temples restrict entry of non- Hindus
Use plastic bottles and covers through into the backwater, use dust bin
During halts - Avoid touts and brokers of shop keeper’s advice, call directly and clear the doubts
Don’t throw Sanitary Napkins& Condoms into the toilet. Use the dustbin.
It is not advisable to drink water from slow moving streams; lakes and dams. Bottle water is available.
Don't wear bikini types of dress where traveling to backwater villages, when visiting inside Hindu, church places of worship avoid footwear
Most banks are open for transaction from 1000 – 1530 hrs except Saturdays
